ABOUT THE CHEF

Chef Lana Lagomarsini is an NYC-based private event chef, and an alumna of Northeastern University and the Culinary Institute of America. Born and raised in the Bronx, she has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of food, having recently been inducted into Les Dames de Escoffier. Having trained in high-performance kitchens including Restaurant Daniel, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and Momofuku Ko, she more recently studied in Patagonia with the legendary chef Francis Malmann.  As if that were not enough, she competed on the first season of the Netflix culinary competition, Pressure Cooker. A fan favorite, Chef Lana demonstrated what a new style of kitchen management looks like – one that prioritizes inclusivity and respect.

As a member of the Black Chef Movement during their start up in 2020, she supported food justice through the preparation and distribution of nutritious meals to people fighting for change.  With this evening’s menu, she will continue to express her voice as a woman of color, highlighting foods from the African diaspora and their connecting foods of the US. Says Chef Lana, “My vision as a chef is to highlight and explore what is deemed as ‘American’ food and trace the lines back to Africa and the experiences of my ancestors in this country. I know that American food culture would be nothing without black food culture, roots, and heritage, and I want to highlight this in a meaningful way in my food experiences and presentations.”
